Message from IACA Youth CoordinatorIACA Youth Report: 2010-2011This year the IACA youth members regularly attend the monthly meeting, Mass and Rosary and participate as altar servers, lectors, and singers in the Mass or lead the Rosary. They actively participated in the Asian Pacific Pilgrimage held May 21, 2011 and created display posters showing images of Our Lady of Vailankanni in the U.S. and in India. The posters highlighted the creation and formation of the Oratory in the Basilica, and provided pictorial information on the many different languages and foods of the Indian subcontinent. The posters were very well received and were also displayed at the Arlington Diocese Multicultural Day on June 19 at St. Bernadette Church in Springfield, VA. For a youth-only social event, some of the young adults gathered at one of the member’s homes for fun and fellowship. They discussed their participation in the upcoming Pilgrimage, as well as ideas for future youth events. They had a fun time getting to know each other over pizza, snacks, and dessert. They also participated in different games, such as the bible game, movie charades, etc. Graduates from the Class of 2011 were presented with gift cards and other gifts. This youth event was a success in gathering IACA youth together. To join the IACA youth group or to learn more about their activities, contact Stephanie D’Silva (edsilva14@aol.com) if you are a youth who is at least high school/college/post-college age, and interested in young, Catholic fellowship!
