Welcome to IACA

Two thousand and nine has been a year of many firsts. Barack Obama was elected as the first African American President in U.S. history. Judge Sotomayor was elected as the first Hispanic woman to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court, and Indian Americans, for the first time have more White House positions than ever before. These events show that ethnic diversity is slowly changing the face of America as we know it. Minorities in America are making great strides in government and business, treading new ground and brightening the American cultural fabric.

As minorities, we Indian-American Christians have so much to offer and contribute to American Society.  Besides our faith mission as Christians, we can do a lot more in social outreach, working as volunteers in night shelters, visiting Senior Citizens, feeding the poor, and participating in church-related activities. Some of our families are already doing an outstanding job in these areas, but we can do more. We Indians-American Christians have the compassion and servitude to share God’s love with our less-fortunate brothers and sisters. In addition,we must share our intellect and knowledge in the political arena, speaking out when U.S. policies are formulated and discussed related to healthcare, the environment, civil rights, abortion, stem-cell research, and family values. How many of us are stepping up to the plate and getting our voices heard? My IACA brothers and sisters, let me challenge you to step up and get more involved in community affairs, thereby becoming an integral part of the American fabric. In this way, we will share our God-given talents, enrich our own lives, and positively contribute to the health and well-being of American society. America is reaching new heights in cultural diversity and we must actively participate in making a difference by being good stewards and models of Christian living. The time to act is now.

Dr. David Faria

President, IACA
